Unmasking a Bargain from Quick Fix Facials

24 August 2015

Quick Fix Facials are a brand that I'd seen featured on a lot of blogs, but one that I was yet to try. When I saw the masks on a 'Buy One Get One Free' offer in Boots I jumped at the chance and two tubes swiftly made their way into my basket. There are lots of different options to choose from, all for varying skin types and concerns, but the two I decided on were the Purifying Charcoal Mask and the Brightening Peel Mask. Considering they are budget options working out at 49p per application (£4.99 per tube, which contains 10 facials), my expectations weren't all that high, but these have gone way beyond that to become some of my face masks of choice.

Starting off with the Purifying Charcoal Mask, which is specially formulated for congested and lifeless skin, this has active charcoal to target congested pores. It also contains Vitamin C-packed dragon fruit to promote radiance, and cinnamon which has antiseptic properties.  This works really well at unclogging everything, although tends to dry the skin out slightly, so I like to keep this just to my problem areas. Drier skin types may want to follow this up with a moisture mask (Quick Fix also offers a Mega Moisture Gel Mask). I'm yet to find a clay/charcoal mask that really wows, but this is a pretty good effort.

The real winner comes in the form of the Brightening Peel Mask. This contains papaya extract to promote cell turnover, mulberry extract to brighten and even skin tone, and gogi berry extract to boost radiance. When I bought this, I thought perhaps it might share similarities with the REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask (one of my favourites) due to its brightening tendencies, but being a peel-off mask means I wouldn't pop them in the same category. My experiences with peel masks in the past haven't been all that positive, so it was a bit of a risk picking this one up.

The Brightening Peel Mask applies like a cooling gel and dries really quickly. After 5-10 minutes, you simply peel off and admire your glowing skin. Honestly, in some places I wasn't sure I'd even peeled off the mask, my skin was so radiant! One downside is the scent, it smells slightly plasticy, like a body spray I owned when I was about 6. This mask is definitely a quick fix, and one that out performs other brightening masks in my collection, most of which are high end.

After this particularly positive experience with Quick Fix Facials, I am keen to pick up a few more of their masks, including the moisture one I mentioned above, and the Anti-blemish Mud Mask. At just £4.99 they are the biggest bargain of the century, and I'm kicking myself for not trying them sooner!

What are your favourite masks?

  1. I absolutely love this brand! The anti blemish one is so so good! I really need to try the charcoal one for sure!!!

  2. I'm definitely going to grab that one, hopefully before the 2 for 1 offer runs out!
