Crowd Colour Custom Palette Review

As a beauty blogger, there's no denying that makeup gets me excited but Behind The Scent branded products are in a whole league of their own... Crowd Colour are an exciting initiative, set up to completely revolutionise the idea of a personalised makeup routine. Sure, there's been a certain level of customisation around for a while, the idea of selecting the perfect shades to fill your palette, but what if your palette design was 100% individual too?

Crowd Colour offer a service where you can pick your base palette - either small, medium or large in black or white, and then pop your very own design on the lid. You can either load your own image on there or choose a pre-designed one. It's a breeze to do, and you can get a preview of your palette in minutes, making as many changes as you like until it is perfect. The palettes come empty, ready to fill with your eyeshadows or powder products of choice.

Crowd Colour Custom Palette Review

I went for a mix of the two options, using their gorgeous pink marble pre-set from the Pastel Marble Collection and adding my blog logo on there too. Although I already had a Z Palette in a similar size, I decided to go for the Large Palette* (£16) as I thought it would be useful to have separate palettes for eyeshadows and blushes.

The palettes are made of a similar toughened cardboard to the Z palettes, and feel very sturdy. The base is magnetised, so you can easily slip any MAC or Makeup Geek refill pans in there as they already are magnetic. Alternatively, you can depot other eyeshadows and attach little magnets to the bottom so they stick to the palette too. Crowd Colour sell the sticky magnets separately to the palettes, whereas when you buy a Z Palette, the magnets are included. One area where the Crowd Colour palette completely trumps the Z Palette is the inclusion of a mirror, which is really useful for travel.

The large palette holds 24 MAC or similar sized eyeshadows. I've currently got MAC's All That Glitters, Cranberry, Satin Taupe and Blackberry in my palette, as well as some Next shadows that I depotted but I'm really keen to place a Makeup Geek order to fill the rest of the palette!

Crowd Colour Custom Palette Review

Overall, I'm very pleased with how my Crowd Colour palette came out. It feels strong and good quality, and it's something that I'm proud to display on my dressing table. I'm a huge fan of the Crowd Colour concept. It's fun, embraces individuality and encourages creativity, and anything that does that is okay with me! I can see Crowd Colour being hugely successful in the future, seeing that they smashed their Kickstarter targets so quickly. A reliable source tells me that they are planning to branch out into selling makeup too, including lip products and eyeshadows to fill the palettes, making Crowd Colour a brand to watch this year.

Now which Makeup Geek shadows do I need to fill my palette with?
