Benefit Goof Proof Ready, Set, Brow

Benefit are renowned for brows. Women have been perfecting their brow arches at their bars for 30 years, but their brow products were always a little overlooked. I bought Brow Zings (one of my first high end beauty purchases) a few years back and while I liked the concept, the shade wasn't that great for my brows and the kit found itself at the back of my makeup drawer.

Fortunately, Benefit have revamped their brow collection and have recently brought out what could only be described as the biggest brow launch to date. Within the launch, there is the obligatory repackage of existing products (Gimme Brow, Brow Zings, High Brow etc.), as well as some shiny new products too. They have also added in new shades to cater for brows at any end of the spectrum.

The collection is vast, covering literally everything brow-related you could ever think of, and even those you wouldn't! There's Browvo!, a conditioning brow primer (how is there a primer for EVERYTHING now?), Brow Zings, a powder and wax duo, and a pomade, Ka-brow!, There are two brow pencils in the range; Goof Proof, a chubby slanted pencil, as well as the skinnier Precisely, My Brow. Onto finishing and fixing, there's Ready, Set, BROW!, their clear brow gel, Gimme Brow, a tinted volumising gel, as well as one of the most unique products: 3D Browtones, a highlighting gel. Talking of highlight, High Brow is back, as well as High Brow Glow to make the brow bone pop.

As much as I'd love to try the whole range, at between £15 and £25 a pop, it's not the most purse-friendly. Thankfully, Benefit have teamed up with some of the UK magazines for this launch, so I've managed to pick up two of the products for absolutely nothing. I got Goof Proof free with Elle magazine and Ready, Set, BROW! with Marie Claire. I've also seen that there's a Gimme Brow free with this month's Glamour. It's great that Benefit are making their new collection accessible to all with their freebies!

The Goof Proof Brow Pencil (£18.50 full size) is the chubbiest of the two brow pencils, with a twist-up mechanism and a slanted applicator. This is meant to emulate the shape of an angled brow brush. The shape means it is really effective at getting a sharp edge, although I find the pencil a little too wide to give a really tapered tail. The product has a creamy feel, it reminds me of a pomade rather than a traditional stiff pencil.

The first time I used this, I have to say, I wasn't overly impressed. It is VERY pigmented, so you really do need a light hand, but I don't know whether this was because it was slightly too dark. There was no option to select shades but by luck of the draw, I ended up with shade 6. This is the darkest of all the shades and it is slightly too dark for me. I would probably get shade 5 if I was going to buy this again, but I can just about get away with it if I use a light hand. After a couple of uses, I got used to the application and now I quite enjoy using it. It gives a really neat finish to the brows. I'm not ready to run out and buy the full size yet but watch this space...

Benefit Ready, Set, BROW!

I wasn't overly excited to try the Ready, Set, BROW! (£18.50 full size) to be honest as it is a clear brow gel whereas I usually use the tinted ones, but that is just personal preference. It wouldn't be top of my list if I was going to buy one of the products with my own money, but of course I was happy to try it seeing as it was a freebie. The brush is plastic, not too dissimilar to the wand on the They're Real! mascara. I actually did a first impressions of this product in this vlog.

Initially, I was quite impressed, despite the wet formula. It tames the brows and works really well in conjunction with the Goof Proof Brow Pencil to make your brows last all day. I think a product like this is essential with the Goof Proof due to the creamy formula. I've been reaching for this quite a lot recently over my usual Maybelline Brow Drama gel.

I'm impressed with the two products that I have tried from the new Benefit brow launch but would I buy them with my own money? Probably not. I do really like the Goof Proof pencil, but I'm really keen to try the Precisely, My Brow pencil as I think the thinner applicator will be easier to work with. I also probably wouldn't buy Ready, Set, BROW, but again it's due to personal preference. I'd like to try Gimme Brow, and I'm really intrigued about the 3D Browtones. I love the new packaging of all the products though, I think it is much nicer than the original packaging, and the outer packaging has that retro vibe we know and love from Benefit.

Have you tried anything from the new brow collection?
