The Midweek Multi-Mask Routine that Leaves Skin Clear, Glowy AND Hydrated!

Muliti-masking with Vichy Mineral Masks

Face masks are something that I tend to hoard like there's no tomorrow. The fact that they're only on the agenda once or maybe twice a week that means they never end up in my Empties. There's no need to have 10 different types of mud mask that all do the same thing, so what I was really looking for was a capsule "wardrobe" of a few masks that did the job well, ones that would work in synergy to give me great skin without all the faff.

Multi-masking is something that has become a bit of a trend for 2016, with brands launching a series of masks rather than just one. The idea behind multi-masking is not a new one, buts it's now become A THING. Have dry skin but you still have blackheads? Is your skin both dull and oily? That's where multi-masking comes in, and it proves to be a concept that is especially effective for combination skin.

Recently, French pharmacy skincare brand Vichy launched three new mineral masks. I was kindly sent two out of the three to try out, the Quenching Mineral Mask and the Double Glow Peel Mask, but there is also a Pore Purifying Mask in the range which, now that I've got the other two, I feel like I need to add into my collection. Since I received these masks, I've been playing around with multi-masking and I've found a really nice routine that I've been really enjoying on a weekly basis.

Vichy Double Glow Peel Quick Fix Facials Sanctuary Thermal Detox Mask

For starters, I like to apply a mud/clay mask to the areas where I get a little more oily, so that's my chin, nose and between my brows. There are two that I've been really enjoying, and both are fairly affordable. The first is the Sanctuary Spa 5 Minute Thermal Detox Mask (£10), which has a warming effect when applied to the skin to draw out impurities even more, and the second is the Quick Fix Facials Purifying Charcoal Mask (£4.99).

I then go in and apply the Vichy Double Glow Peel Mask* (£14) onto the rest of my face, so that's usually my cheeks and forehead. This one has a very unique texture, having a gel-like consistency with an ultra-fine exfoliant. It is perfect for those with dull and tired skin, as the mask is also infused with volcanic rock, vitamin C and fruit acid AHA to create a double peel action to brighten and rejuvenate the skin.

Both the Double Glow Peel and the Sanctuary Thermal Detox Masks take just 5 minutes to work, so by the time I've made a cup of tea, it's time to wash them off! I tend to splash my face and give my face a mini-massage, which takes full advantage of the micro-exfoliants in the Double Glow Peel Mask. I then remove the rest of the mask with a damp muslin cloth.

Multi-masking Vichy Quenching Mineral Mask

For those with slightly dry skin, brightening or clay masks have the tendency to be a bit drying, so one of the things that I've been loving recently is to follow these with the Vichy Quenching Mineral Mask* (£14). This again has a lovely gel consistency which feels really refreshing on the skin. It puts the moisture back into the skin, utilising thermal water from the French volcanoes. It contains vitamin B3, glyverin and refreshing menthoxyproanediol to quench the skin.

This step makes all the difference in just 5 minutes, and means my skin doesn't have to sacrifice its hydration levels when I want to give my skin a detox. The directions state that you can either leave the mask on and massage in the excess, but I find it leaves the skin feeling a little sticky. I like to wash it off as before, to leave my skin clean and fresh, without that uncomfortably tight feeling.

I'm so happy with my multi-masking routine as it does everything I want it to with minimum effort. It still only takes 10 minutes, which is around the same time as some mud masks anyway. If you're looking to revive your mask routine, I would definitely recommend giving multi-masking a try! I've been really impressed with Vichy's mineral mask offerings, as both have lovely, refreshing textures, and have gentle, uplifting scents. I'm so tempted to add the Pure Purifying Mask to my routine once my other two bite the dust!

Have you tried multi-masking?
